Letter from The Editor
Autumn
has finally arrived, even here in So.
Thanksgiving
is right around the corner. In our
gathering with our families take a few moments to recognize and express your
gratitude for them. Living In Thrival
includes thriving in our relationships and with our family. Are your family and friend relationships
thriving? Or are they surviving? Do you take the time to nurture them and make
sure they are abundant?
We get
so busy in our daily lives, we sometimes forget that our relationships need to
be nurtured and attention paid to them for them to thrive. This past year I learned this with one of my
friends. Although we were quite
close, we hardly saw or talked to each
other. We’d say, “We should get
together” and never did. Finally, we
made an appointment to meet at a certain time and place. And we kept that appointment for several
months. We’d meet up and spend an hour
or so catching up and chatting. Our
friendship grew deeper. It began to
thrive again. This fall she moved to the
east coast and I miss our weekly get togethers.
I now have the choice of letting our friendship deteriorate, back into
survival, due to lack of attention, or I can make the effort to stay in contact
with her. She is after all, only a phone
call away.
Friendships
and relationships take effort to maintain and to grow. What are you doing to cultivate your
relationships so they are flourishing and thriving? I invite you to take time out of your busy
schedule this month to call one friend you haven’t talked to in awhile. Reconnect with them. Cherish and be in gratitude for their
friendship.
Sincerely,
Tora

A
State of
The keystone of “Living in Thrival” is
that it is a state of Being, not just a state of having. Thrival is a state of mind, a Beingness,
which then creates a state of existence.
I think and believe I am thriving; and therefore, I thrive. As Thrival begins to be our predominate state
of mind, it becomes our way of living.
Living in Thrival is a new paradigm for living and being in this
world. The new age that is dawning is
beckoning us to live this way and to remember that Thrival is our birthright
and our natural state of being. As a
state of Being, it is a holistic and balanced view of life. All areas and aspects of our life are
important, not just money or jobs, equally important to thriving are:
§
Our
relationships and friendships
§
Our
creativity
§
Our
physical bodies and health
§
Our
connection to Spirit
§
Our
fun
As I’ve talked to people, I’ve found the
predominate belief of what thriving means is that it is prosperity, and
specifically money. Money, and the
possessions and things money buys, is in the forefront of almost everyone’s
mind. How do I make more? Do I have enough? Jerry over there has more than I do, so I
must not be doing very well. But there
is so much more to thriving, and Thrival, than money and possessions. It is only one aspect of the whole
picture.
Will you make more money when you’re
living in Thrival? Possibly. It depends on what your individual
relationship and belief is to money and work and what you desire. I have a friend who doesn’t put much
importance on having a lot of money or the dream job. She just wants to have enough to cover her
needs and hobbies. Because that’s what
she desires and she has it in her life, she’s in Thrival. As another example, having a large bank
account does not make you thriving if your health is poor. I’m all for having a good sum of money in my
bank account, but I also want to be thriving in all areas of my life. I’ve had the good job that made good money
and definitely wasn’t thriving. The rest
of my life was in shambles – or non-existent.
The material “things”, the having, flows
from our Being in Thrival and when we’re in that state of being, we can enjoy
our “things”, our “toys” (one of my favorite type of toys is percussion
instruments), our homes, our cars, etc. much more.
When we learn to BE in Thrival on the
inside, following the Law of Attraction, it will spread to the manifestation of
Thrival on the physical and material plane.
Meditating is a valuable tool to help us move
into Thrival. However, many people have a difficult time quieting their minds and so
give up on meditating. The method I use engages
the mind and incorporates visioning, feeling, alignment of energy,
affirmations, and the power of sound. In
this method, I include using Mudras, which are hand gestures to create and
align with the energy of what I’m focusing on.
I also use Mantras, which are prayerful chants, specifically ancient
Sanskrit chants. Each month I will
share with you a mudra and mantra set for you to try. If you want to experience them more, they are
included on my forthcoming CD “Transformational Prayers”, which includes a
booklet with full-color pictures of the mudra and the mantra. The music of the mantras is beautiful, full
of interesting instruments and percussion.
Each piece is different.

If you’d like to learn the full method of
meditation that I use and experience the power of group meditation and
chanting, I hold a weekly meditation class in
Inner Being
We have both within us and as part of us an
aspect that is always connected to the Divine and knows what is in our best and
highest good. This aspect is our Inner
Being, or Higher Self, or even our Soul.
To connect with and commune with our Inner Being we must go into our
“yin” or receptive, feminine side of ourselves.
We cannot connect to It through our “yang” or active, masculine
side. By stopping our activities for a
few moments for quiet contemplation puts us in that receptive state to receive
the messages and guidance that we need from our Inner Beings. This mudra-mantra set helps us to be in that
receptive state.
Mudra:
Curl your thumbs to the inside of your palm,
touching the fleshy mound below the little finger. Extend the rest of the fingers. Put your hands together so the right thumb
sits on top of the left and the bottoms of the hands are touching. Lift your hands to your solar plexus, with
the fingers extended away from you.
The hands form a cave or womb, in which the
thumbs, representing our logical ego selves has gone into. This is symbolic of dropping our egos to go
deep inside of ourselves to connect with our Inner Being which resides in our
center.
Mantra: Ek Ong
Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru
(EHK ONG KAR SAAT NAHM SEE-REE WHA-HEY GOO-ROO)
There is one who has created this
creation. Truth is Its name. It is so great we cannot describe Its
infinite wisdom.
Individual Words Mean:
EK = One
ONG = Creator
KAR = Creation
SAT = Truth
SIRI = Great
WAHE = Beyond description (Wow!)
GURU = Dispeller of darkness
This mantra invokes the great teachers (gurus) of the world. However, it also reminds us that the great dispeller of darkness is the Creator who lies within our hearts. We are our greatest teachers. We learn from our experiences and from the contemplation of them. This mantra reminds us to connect to the teacher within, our Inner Beings.
Sample Affirmations:
I connect easily whenever I need to with my
Inner Being, my Higher Consciousness.
The answers I seek are within me.
My Inner Being is always connected to the
Divine; and therefore, so am I.
My Inner Being always knows what is in my best
and highest good and brings that to me.
